AUDUBON, Iowa - 5 th August, 2026
Snowfox Discovery, a pioneer in natural hydrogen exploration, today announces it has successfully accessed more than 10,000 acres of exploration leases in Audubon County, Iowa. We expect our exploration work programme to result in a drilling campaign in late 2027/2028.
This access marks Snowfox’s first major U.S. land position and represents an important milestone in the company’s strategy to build a diversified global portfolio of natural hydrogen opportunities.
Audubon County is located in what we consider to be the most prospective region of the Mid-Continental Rift system. Our selection of this specific area is a result of Snowfox’s exploration approach, which combines geophysics, geochemistry and proprietary geological modelling.
"We are delighted to have completed our initial land access work and wish to thank our leaseholders and indeed all the people of Audubon County for their incredible support"
- said Daniel McMahon, CEO of Snowfox Discovery Ltd ®
"By combining our unique hydrogen exploration technologies and evaluation workflows with this strategic land position, we are moving forward to de-risk and unlock a globally significant clean energy resource."
The project also benefits from proximity to existing ammonia and fertiliser infrastructure, and a potential pathway to early industrial demand.
About Snowfox Discovery Ltd ®:
Snowfox Discovery is a natural hydrogen exploration company based on sector-efining technology. Our purpose is to enable natural hydrogen to accelerate and secure the energy transition. Unlike green or blue hydrogen, which require significant energy or carbon-capture infrastructure to produce, natural hydrogen is generated by ongoing geological processes within the Earth’s crust, offering the potential for a primary energy source with a near-zero carbon footprint and substantially lower production costs.
Snowfox comprises leading geoscientists, explorers, and deep-tech innovators and is backed by world-leading investors who aim to unlock the potential of natural hydrogen for a net zero future.
